Will Fung (Principal Partner)
Will has 19 years of legal experience in China, predominantly practicing International Law at Grandall Law Firm (Beijing), where he was one of the first batch of Registered Foreign Counsel with the Beijing Justice Bureau.
After graduating with LL.B (Hons) from the University of Leeds in 1999, he obtained his Certificate of Legal Practice in 2000 and was subsequently admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court in Malaya in 2001. Will’s early years of practice was at Messrs Shook Lin & Bok and Messrs Arthur Wang Lian & Partners.
Throughout his career, Will advises foreign clients on mergers and acquisitions, and foreign direct investment projects in China. Apart from that, Will also handles corporate restructuring and joint-ventures in services-oriented industries such as Technology, Media, Arts, Advertising & PR companies, Information Technology & Communications, Pharmaceutical & Petrol Chemicals, Oil & Gas, and Impact Funds / Financial Inclusion sectors.
Furthermore, Will has acted as leading counsel in several deals involving outbound investment/work representing Chinese State-Owned Enterprises and corporate clients in the negotiation process, focusing on ASEAN, Asia-Pacific Region as well as the Middle Eastern countries.
Will has also been involved in a few high-profile corporate and commercial disputes arbitrations in China.
Will is recognised by International Financial Law Review, ILFR 1000 as a Notable Practitioner, M&A, China for the years 2018, 2021, 2022 and 2023. Apart from that, Will was also listed in the Legal 500 for Corporate and M&A, China for the year 2021.
Will has returned to Malaysia and joined RWC as a Principal Partner in 2024.
Apart from his practice, Will is an active speaker and writer, sharing his thoughts and views on multiple areas of law, both in China and Malaysia. Will has also co-authored numerous publications and attended multiple conferences and seminars as a speaker or presenter.
Will is an Advisory Council Member of the China-ASEAN Business Council since 2017. Between the years of 2017-2021, Will was the immediate past chairman of the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China. In 2022, Will was the Vice President of the Asia Pacific Economic and Trade Council (APETC), under the China Institute for WTO Studies, UIBE.
