Desmond Ho (Partner)
Desmond was called to the Malaysian Bar on August 11, 2001, after obtaining his Certificate of Legal Practice. He has extensive litigation experience in various courts, including the Industrial Relations and Civil Courts, with a strong focus on dismissals and retrenchment issues. Known for his technical expertise and solution-oriented advice, he has served the Malaysian Bar through various roles.
Desmond began his Bar service with the National Young Lawyers Committee, the Human Rights Committee, and as secretary of the Malacca Bar. He served two terms as Chairman of the Malacca Bar in 2015 and as a Bar Council member for six years, handling several portfolios. Notably, he chaired the Court Liaison Committee and co-chaired the Corporate and Commercial Law Committee, where he contributed to key legal reforms and discussions, including the Insolvency Bill and the Limited Liability Partnership Act.
He represented the Bar in the World Bank’s Technical Working Group for Enforcement of Contracts and served as a Technical Advisor to the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC). He also participated in the Ad Hoc Committee on the Legal Profession Act and the Committee on Legal Sector Reform.
Desmond was Deputy Chairman of the International Professional Services Committee (2019-2023) and played a key role in organizing trade delegations to Jakarta and Japan in 2023. He was appointed Chairman of the Trade in Legal Services Committee in March 2023. Additionally, he was an Industrial Advisor to Multimedia University (2017-2022) and a Subject Evaluator for the Legal Profession Qualifying Board in 2017. Desmond also served as Honorary Secretary of the Selangor Bar Committee (2021-2022) and was accredited as a Mediator by the Malaysian International Mediation Centre in 2023.
